Vietnam Locomotives

Vietnam has a good mix of locos from Russia, China, USA, Romania, India, Czech Republic, Australia, Germany and home built

All locos have a Prefix "D" for diesel, followed by a number denoting the horsepower e.g. D14 is a 1400hp diesel, then this is followed by another letter "E" for electrical transmission or "H" for hydraulic transmission.

This is then followed by the actual locos specific number.

Some loco classes have both 1000mm and 1435mm gauged types. The standard gauge locos then have an "R" prefix after the transmission type letter

So Class D19s have both D19ER and D19E types
