Krivoy Rog is located in south central Ukraine and has a population of 630,000 inhabitants. It has the largest steel works in the world which has grown up due to the huge, high quality, iron ore deposits in the area. Two million tonnes of iron ore are extracted annually from this area. The region is also rich in many other minerals and these are also extracted.
