Klatovy is the end of the electrified section from Plzen, and all through trains to Zelezna Ruda on the German border have to change here to diesel traction. 

All loco hauled trains from Plzen are headed by Class 242 locos

The change over to diesel traction          

There are several branch-lines emanating from Klatovy and they tend to use the oldest of the units operating within the Czech Republic. Here a Class 831 unit rests on Klatovy shed
