All the V Line loco hauled passenger services on the lines to Geelong, Seymour and Bendigo are in the hands of  N Class locos.

The 25 N Class locos were introduced between 1985 and 1987. They have a 2500hp EMD engine and were built by Clyde Engineering. They are numbered N451 to N475, most are named after towns and cities in Victoria.
